Boyfriend Material: The Puppet I Made to Love Me Back is a series of episodes that uses puppetry to expose the performance associated with femininity, presentation of identity, and the construction of modern dating culture through satirical motifs. The protagonist, sharing the artist’s name and likeness, builds her ideal puppet boyfriend through a digital interface, dates him across sitcom-style scenarios, gets ghosted, and ultimately transforms herself into a puppet to secure belonging beside him. Grounded in feminist theory and the language of puppetry, the work explores questions about control: who has it, who gives it up, and at what cost.
